Nap-Trapped? These Christchurch Coffee Vans Have Got You Covered

If you can’t face another McDonald’s drive-through brew, these Christchurch coffee vans are there for you when you’re nap-trapped in the car.

Sometimes there’s nothing better than kicking back in the car with a coffee, scrolling Instagram in peace while the kids nap. While we would never advocate or advise leaving the littles alone, these Christchurch coffee vans are parked just so, that you’ll never be more than a foot or two away when placing your order. You can even text some of them so that your coffee is hot and waiting for when you arrive! Bliss.

Christchurch coffee vans:

The Coffee Hut, Ilam

This one isn’t technically a coffee van, but it’s a hole-in-the-wall that has been purpose-made for takeaway barista coffees with parking spots right in front of the window. The coffee is *chef’s kiss* and they even serve a variety of grab-and-go snacks. The Coffee Hut also has free fluffies on its menu, just in case the kids decide to wake up on arrival.

Opening hours: Monday – Sunday, 7-3pm

213A Waimairi Road, Ilam Christchurch

Soulful Coffee, Ferrymead

Soulful Coffee‘s owners Ash and Cloud have cornered the Ferrymead coffee market with their top-notch brews and baked goods made in-house. Keep your eye out on your drive for their quaint green van and pull up for a much-needed dose of caffeine or a delicious smoothie.

Opening hours: Wednesday – Friday, 6.45-3pm; Saturday – Sunday, 8-4pm

1014a Ferry Road, Ferrymead, Christchurch

North Beach Coffee Shed, New Brighton

Christchurch coffee vans: North Beach New Brighton

Another nook fave on a trip out New Brighton way (where the kids always seem to nod off), North Beach Coffee Shed is housed in a car park, a stone’s throw from the beach for a little dune walking post-nap, or for a snack and cuppa on one of the picnic tables once they’ve woken up. This little gem also serves cracking chocolate chip cookies to indulge in while you catch up on the latest TikToks. Nap cut short? Head to Thompson Park Playground for a skate and a play or to Rawhiti Domain to search for fairies.

Opening hours: Monday – Friday, 7-3.30pm; Saturday – Sunday, 7.30-4pm

76b Marine Parade, North New Brighton, Christchurch

Quarry Cafe, Halswell

This cool little retro trailer is parked up in Halswell Quarry, right next to plenty of parking and ready to dish out hot drinks and feed little mouths all week long. We love their kid-friendly touches like baskets of toys on the tables, but for parents in need of a boost while the kids safely snooze in the car, this is a great spot to refuel and recharge before exploring the quarry and playing out in nature.

Opening hours: Monday – Friday, 8.30-4pm; Saturday – Sunday, 8-4pm

185 Kennedys Bush Road, Kennedys Bush, Christchurch
