Every lesson is hands-on, with plenty of room for experimentation and discovery.

Brain Play runs after-school classes, holiday programmes, and online workshops across Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington (as of just a few weeks ago!), and beyond. STEM Classes in Christchurch

For Term 1, Brain Play is running three after-school STEM classes at Christchurch libraries. These five-week sessions are perfect for kids who love technology, creativity, and hands-on challenges.

Mondays at Halswell Library | 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Tuesdays at Tūranga Library | 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Thursdays at Upper Riccarton Library | 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Each session is $28 and runs for five weeks, making it an easy and flexible way to explore STEM subjects. Plus, for those who missed Brain Play’s free events in January, there’s still a chance to book a free trial class—a great way to see if it’s the right fit.

Brain Play also offers 1:1 neurodivergent-friendly classes, available both online and in person. They can come to your home, visit your child at school, or meet online—whichever setting works best for your child’s needs. Lessons start from $85 per session, providing tailored support to help neurodiverse students thrive.

What Kids Learn at Brain Play

Brain Play doesn’t just teach kids how to use technology—it teaches them how to create with it. Every topic covers at least two STEM elements, ensuring a well-rounded experience.

Coding and Game Development

Coding is all about giving instructions to a computer, and Brain Play makes it accessible to kids of all ages. Younger students use puzzles and games to learn sequencing, while older students explore coding languages, game design, and website development.

Robotics and Engineering

Building robots isn’t just about making them move—it’s about problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity. Kids work with robotics kits to build and programme their own robots, learning about sensors, movement, and automation. Plus, there’s plenty of maths, measurement, and 3D design involved, giving kids a solid foundation in engineering.

3D Printing and Design

Brain Play has its own set of 3D printers, and kids get to design, create, and print their own models. They’ll learn everything from CAD software to 3D pen drawing, turning their ideas into real-life creations.

Minecraft and Digital Design

Minecraft isn’t just a game—it’s a powerful learning tool. Brain Play’s Minecraft sessions introduce engineering concepts, physics, Redstone circuits, and commands, transforming screen time into an educational adventure.

Hands-On Science Experiments

From chemistry and physics to biology, Brain Play makes science exciting. Whether it’s building kaleidoscopes, testing pH levels, or experimenting with forces and motion, kids get to explore real-world scientific concepts in a fun, engaging way.
