Unsure of what to do with boxes of baby clothes, out-grown items and maternity wear? Donations are hugely appreciated and gladly accepted by these amazing organisations that cater to women and children across Christchurch. It’s best to double-check their websites and Facebook pages to see which items are currently accepted as some may have different immediate needs. Where to donate baby items and clothing:
It Takes a Village Hub

Items accepted:
All donations must be in new or excellent used condition.
- Clothing (prem – 5 years old)
- Feeding items: plates, cutlery, bottles, breast pumps, sterilisers etc
- Toys and books
- Baby store vouchers
- Bassinet and cot bedding
- Changing and bathing items
- Large items (e.g prams/furniture) by arrangement

PIPS Christchurch
Items accepted: Donations of used-good condition, maternity and baby clothing, prem up to size 2, along with bedding and miscellaneous baby items and equipment.
Donations of clothing and smaller baby items can be dropped off any day of the week at their Wainoni office — 56A Shortland Street.
- Upper Riccarton / Ilam donation host can be contacted on 027 753 5095.

Clothed in Love
Items accepted: Preloved and new clothing ranging from prem to 16 child. Clean and labelled by size and gender.

- Bottoms, track pants, jeans, leggings, shorts
- Underclothing, singlets, socks, underwear, tights and thermals
- Sleepwear
- Swimwear
- Baby wear such as sleepsacks, mittens, stretch and grows

The Nest Collective
Items accepted: Donations (new or pre-loved in excellent condition) of nearly all baby essentials, however, their greatest need is generally books, baby clothing (prem – size 1), blankets, bedding and towels. They also collect wool and fabric (natural fibres) for their Nest crafters.
Drop-off locations are private addresses of volunteers. Log on to their website to find a location near you, and make contact via the form to arrange a time to donate your items.
Battered Women’s Trust
Often left with no time to take extra belongings, those seeking assistance need a full household of resources. You can help by donating quality used goods, household items and clothing. Be sure to check their website for what resources are currently needed as space to house items is limited.

Items accepted: Donations (new or in very good and clean condition), including:
- Clothing/school uniforms
- Toys
- Books
- Furniture
- Household items.

Rachel’s House Trust Rangiora
Items accepted:
- Nappies
- Toys and books for five years and over
Items can be donated to The Loft (Level 1, Eastgate Shopping Centre) during office hours Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
Other organisations that accept donations:

- Hospitals with neonatal intensive care or special care units will have an area where you can drop off items directly at the reception desk. Hospitals mainly require Prem and Newborn sized clothing, and bedding such as muslin wraps and small cot blankets.
- The Little Miracles Trust: Distributes clothing and blankets between the hospital units based on their specific needs. All knitted clothing needs to be 100% wool, and you can post your items directly to 21 Raranga Street, Marshland, Christchurch 8083.
