You’re Invited to Mini Makers – A nook NZ x Messy Mates Christmas Party

A festive celebration packed with crafts, snow play, and a visit from Santa at Messy Mates Play Studio in Hornby. Perfect for families looking for fun Christmas activities for kids in Christchurch.

We’re teaming up with Messy Mates to throw a Christmas party for kids, and we’ve packed in a lot of activities to keep the little ones busy for a good couple of hours.

There’s a snow machine set up so the kids can play in fake snow. It’s probably the closest thing to a white Christmas we’re getting in New Zealand. They can throw it around, make snow angels, whatever they feel like doing. Santa’s coming along too! The kids can say hi, chat about what they want for Christmas, and get some photos with him.

Here’s what else is happening at this Christchurch kids Christmas party:

Hot chocolate making station where the kids make their own hot chocolate. They get to choose their toppings, add marshmallows, make it exactly how they want it. Then they actually get to drink what they’ve made.

Make your own tree ornaments so the kids can decorate baubles or ornaments to hang on the tree at home. They’ll take them home at the end of the party.

DIY Christmas plates where they can paint and decorate their own plates. Good for keeping or giving as gifts to family. The kids usually love seeing something they’ve made get used properly.

Letters to Santa with a station set up for writing. The kids can sit down and write to Santa, draw pictures, tell him what’s on their list. It’s a nice quiet activity between all the running around.

Reindeer food making where they mix up the magic food for the reindeer. Oats, glitter, the usual. They make their own bags to take home and sprinkle on Christmas Eve.

Lucky present dip so every kid gets to pick out a present. Everyone goes home with something.

Lolly scramble which is always popular at kids parties in Christchurch. We throw the lollies, the kids collect them. Pretty straightforward but they love it.

Face painting is available for an extra $5 on the day if your kids are into that.

Candy canes for everyone.

Stacey Cox Photography will be taking photos throughout the party. You’ll get some proper shots of the kids doing all the activities without having to follow them around with your phone, as well as family shots (backdrop included) to purchase after the event.

We’re keeping numbers to 30 kids so there’s enough space and enough supplies for everyone to actually do the activities without too much waiting around. This Christmas event for kids in Christchurch is at Messy Mates Play Studio in Hornby, one of the best venues for children’s Christmas parties in the area.
