Worm Farm & Composting with Richmond Community Garden & Christchurch Envirokids

Drop by the Kiosk in the Botanic Gardens anytime between 10-1pm for a practical session on creating worm farms using upcycled ice cream containers. Run by Richmond Community Garden and Christchurch Envirokids, all materials are provided, and the event is free for young nature enthusiasts. Learn about composting and how to turn waste into nourishing soil. No prior experience is needed—just come ready to get involved and learn something new.

Kid-Friendly One Night Werewolf

Meepleopolis is running a 90-minute ‘Kid-Friendly One Night Werewolf ‘ game session designed and hosted by kids for kids, with simplified rules and gentle, fun-themed characters. It’s a great way for those aged 8 and up to enjoy a social and strategic game in a supportive environment. The $10 entry fee includes a snack and drink and prizes for the top players. Friendly staff and young hosts will guide the gameplay, making it easy for everyone to join.

Winter Family Fun Day

Join The Old Leithfield Hotel for a family day on Sunday, August 18th. The event features a kids’ bouncy castle, family games, snow cones, and snow machines. Live music by Tracy Rock will start at 1pm and the hotel’s full food menu, along with their Sunday toast carvery, will be available throughout the day.

Canterbury Philharmonia Family Concert

Canterbury Philharmonia presents a family-friendly concert featuring well-known pieces like Peter and the Wolf, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jupiter, William Tell Overture Finale, and Carmen Suite. Audience members are invited to come dressed as their favourite character from Peter and the Wolf or as a pirate, too. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for those under 18, available online or at the door.
