Loopy Tunes Concert for Preschoolers

What's on this weekend for kids: Loopy Tunes Concert for Preschoolers

Join Loopy Tunes for a fun-filled Term Concert in Parklands on Friday, August 9th, from 10-10.30am at Parklands Community Centre. Perfect for preschoolers and their whānau, this 40-minute interactive bilingual music performance includes engaging waiata, dancing, and a bubble finale. Their bilingual Rainbow Book Collection and other goodies will also be available for purchase.

When: Friday, 9 August, 10-10.30am
Where: Shop 11/2 Chadbury Street, Parklands, Christchurch
How much: one adult and child – $15. Under 1s go free. Everyone attending must have a ticket. Book here.

Storytimes with Cubbin Theatre

What's on this weekend for kids: Storytimes with cubbin theate

Cosy up for story time with some of Aotearoa’s favourite picture books, hosted by the wonderful Cubbin Theatre Company. Known for their children’s shows, Cubbin Theatre is bound to captivate both kids aged 0-6 and their grown-ups.

When: Saturday, 10 August, 11-11.30am

Being Yoga: Kids Yoga Class

Being Yoga Kids Yoga session

Join a fun and mindful Kids Yoga session on Saturday, August 10, from 11.15-12pm. This 45-minute class by Being Yoga combines yoga, play, mindfulness, and connection, making learning enjoyable. Suitable for all ages, this event offers simple ways for kids to be mindful while having fun.

When: Saturday, 10 August, 11.15-12pm
Where: Being Yoga, 6 Elgin Street, Sydenham, Christchurch

Wonderful Wetland Birds

Travis Wetland

Join the Kiwi Conservation Club and Christchurch Envirokids for an adventure in the Travis Wetlands. Discover nesting birds, including the shining cuckoo and grey warbler, while exploring the wetland. Inspired by the book Cuckoo and the Warbler by Kennedy Warne, this event is perfect for families seeking fun and educational activities. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, an indoor facility will be ready.

Mark your calendars for Selwyn’s First Pet Expo on Sunday, 11 August from 10-4pm at West Melton Community and Recreation Centre. This event is perfect for animal lovers of all ages. Chat with experts and discover the latest products for your furry and feathered friends, enjoy live entertainment, a petting farmyard (additional $5 entry), free face painting, and more.

Interactive Concert for Children

what's on for kids this weekend: The Beautiful World of Baroque Music

Introduce your little ones to the joy of classical music with Children’s Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – Spring on Sunday, August 11th at Mt Pleasant Community Centre in Christchurch. Presented by the Baroque Music Community and Educational Trust of New Zealand, alongside Julie Wylie Musical Play, this interactive children’s concert brings Vivaldi’s masterpiece to life in a fun and engaging way. Enjoy an atmosphere which encourages kids to listen, learn, and appreciate music.

When: Sunday, 11 August, 12-12.45pm; 1.15-2pm; 2.30-3.15pm
